The journal covers all areas of the biobehavioral and cognitive sciences, with an Impact Factor of 21.357 in 2021. It was #2 out of 53 in Behavioral Sciences and #5 out of 274 in Neurosciences. BBS publishes approximately 10 "treatments" per year, which is a set of articles: a peer-reviewed "target article," about 30 peer commentaries, and a response article by the target article authors.

Meridian Production evaluates and manages over 1,300 submissions per year through Editorial Manager. We manage unsolicited submissions; the peer review process; general calls for commentary proposals; the creation of in-depth reports on thousands of potential commentators; submissions, evaluations, and revisions of hundreds of commentaries, simultaneously; the solving of technical issues; and all journal communications, scheduling, and status reports.

Microscopy Today

Microscopy Today is a trade magazine, providing information about the use and study of microscopes. It is published six times per year with a circulation of over 18,000. Every year the magazine runs an international competition to recognize scientific micrographs and movie clips with exceptional composition and esthetic qualities.

Meridian Production creates and manages production schedules; copyedits and proofreads articles and ads; preflights editorial and advertising content, improving files, guiding others, and recreating content; designs and typesets editorial and advertising content, or directs the typesetter; creates pagination of editorial and advertising content to design and production specifications; and communicates closely with editors, authors, advertisers, authors’ agents, typesetters, printers, publishers, advertising agencies, and readers. Part of the workflow is processed through ScholarOne.

Lieutenant Blender Cocktails in a Bag

Production artist and graphic designer, 2006–present

Meridian Production has created, revised, and managed the product line of over 20 Lieutenant Blender drink pouches, large-scale display pieces, corrugated packaging, and web graphics through several design iterations. Most of the work is high-quality vector-based graphics, which requires expertise in Adobe Illustrator and extensive knowledge of 10- to 12-color rotogravure and flexographic printing.

Anesthesiology

Anesthesiology is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal. Meridian Production has been maintaining and gradually redesigning the journal’s website in html and css. We also write html for emails sent to over 70,000 subscribers and members. Projects are hand-coded and then processed through SilverChair, SiteManager, SiteBuilder, and EditorialManager.

United Source Packaging

Graphics Prepress Manager, 2010–2019

Meridian Production lead the U.S. graphics and pre-press departments for United Source Packaging, an international packaging and printing company. We evaluated, prepared, and converted customer graphics for rotogravure printing, up to 12 colors. We also created all dielines for artwork setup, including specialized pouches and rollstock, with custom gussets, seals, headers, vent holes, etc. Drawing from extensive experience working in printing plants, we collaborated with separators, ink companies, cylinder makers, converters, and Fortune 100 clients, as well as many smaller companies, to produce top-notch packaging. Clients included Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Costco, Motts, Dollar General, Whataburger, OCHO, Safeway, HEB, Dole, Aldi, Kroger, Chelan, and Sam’s Club.

Georgia-Pacific

Graphics, production art, and pre-press consulting, 2006–2014

Meridian Production consulted for Georgia-Pacific, evaluating, preparing, and converting packaging art for high-quality printing on rotogravure and flexographic printing presses. We also prepared graphics for corrugated packaging and set up dielines for package construction. Clients included Kroger, Safeway, Walmart, Publix, HEB, Fred Meyer, and Pacific Seafood.

Microscopy Today, Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, Studies in American Political Development, 2008–2022

Cambridge University Press contracted with Meridian Production to copyedit several journals. We followed Chicago Manual of Style, as well as style specific to each journal.
